Wheelchair Skills Bootcamp

The UBC Wheelchair Skills Bootcamp consists of four online modules – to be completed first, followed by two days of in-person wheelchair and scooter skills training.

1: Background on Wheelchair Use and Wheelchair Skills

This module is an introduction to research about wheelchair use globally and in Canada and evidence about wheelchair skills.

2. Introduction to Wheelchair Skills Testing and Related Assessments

This module reviews general concepts in wheelchair skills testing and wheeling/driving related assessments for Manual Wheelchairs, Powered Wheelchairs, and Scooters.

3. Introduction to Manual Wheelchair Skills Training

This module introduces general concepts and theories related to manual wheelchair skills training, and should be reviewed prior to attending the full-day manual wheelchair skills training session.

4. Introduction to Powered Wheelchair and Scooter Skills Training

This module introduces general concepts and theories related to powered wheelchair and scooter skills training, and should be reviewed prior to attending the full-day powered wheelchair and scooter skills training session.
